A village, with a wide picturesque main street with remains of a Norman castle, and a church with a Norman tower and the delightful inn ‘Whyte Harte’ bears the date of 1388, but only a public house since 1704.
To the east is Tilburstow Hill rising to 574 ft.
There are some lovely old houses including the 15th century half-timbered Brewer Street farm, and Pendell Court a fine brick houses built in the Jacobean style in 1624 and next door is Pendell House built 12 years later in the Classical style.
