One of the most famous historic houses in Europe, built for and still occupied by, the Marlborough family, with architecture by Vanbrugh and landscaping by Capability Brown.
The whole setting of this Baroque house is on a grand scale. Located on the edge of the historic town of Woodstock the land was given to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, as a reward for his spectacular military success at Blenheim in 1704.
Completed in 1722 the house covers 7 acres with buildings and courts. Magnificent state rooms show it as a monument to military achievement and contain many treasures including paintings by Reynolds, Van Dyke and Kneller.
The Great Hall is 67ft high and the library almost 200ft long.
