Blandford Forum was almost completely destroyed by fire in 1731 and rebuilt in a handsome Georgian style.
The Church of St Peter and St Paul was built in 1739, faced with Ashlar and has a fine square tower. The interior has Ionic nave columns, a font, box pews and a canopied seat for the Mayor
The Town Hall is a beautiful Georgian building with a memorial to a local man Alfred Stevens born here in 1818. He was an architect, painter and sculptor and is best remembered for his splendid monument to the Duke of Wellington in St Paul’s Cathedral in 1862.
