URPoint Details
The lovely 13th century church of St Nicholas stands well away from the quay on the main coast road. The 120ft tall spire was added a century later. It also has a second tower at the eastern end which when lit at nights would guide the ships safely into harbour. This imposing church can be seen approaching the town from any direction. St Nicholas is a nationally important building, with a Grade I listing for its exceptional architectural interest.
