Blairadam: level clearing (blar) of the (Adam) family
The family included the famous Scottish architects and interior designers. The name was originally that of the estate: the village within it, established by William, father of Robert, was initially called Maryburgh (after William's wife)
The most famous son is Robert born in 1728 and died in 1792. He worked both in England and Scotland.
To the west are the Cleish hills with Dumglow reaching 1,241ft and to the northeast is Benarty Hill at 1,167ft.
