The name given to the broad and fertile strip of land which lies between the Firth of Cromarty and the Beauly and Inner Moray Firths and ending in the South Sutor headland beyond the town of Cromarty.In the centre of the Black Isle is a wooded ridge known as Millbuie or Ardmeanach, the lordship was granted originally to Darnley by Mary, Queen of Scots.
