URPoint Details
The Roman villa was discovered in 1811 and is one of the largest in Britain covering about 70 buildings within a walled enclosure of 4ᄑ acres. It is thought to have to have had a house an estate of over 2,000 acres and home to an obviously prosperous person.
One of the excavated rooms is a museum, and there are displays of household items, coins from the 1st century and some animal bones and skulls of the 4th century.
