Lying alongside the Great North Road by the River Ivel is an area well known for market gardening, and once a coaching town with many historic pubs still remaining one being the White Hart Inn is timber framed.
There are several memorials to bicycle, motorcycle and tractor inventor, Dan Albone, who was born in Biggleswade.
In London Road is the Limes, the former workhouse of yellow brick with an octagonal centre and wings dated 1835.
Market Place is the centre of the town, and there are many fine buildings including the timber framed Old Market House, the Victorian Town Hall has a five bay stuccoed front with massive Roman Doric pillars.
Of special interest to aviation enthusiasts is Old Warden Aerodrome, near Biggleswade, which is home to one of the great aircraft collections of the world. Flying days are held throughout the summer.
