URPoint Details
An historic village near the site of a Roman fort which was an outpost for Hadrians Wall. The site covers 6 acres and there are some remains of a medieval castle built of materials from the Roman Wall. There are 4 ruined Pele towers standing within 2 miles of the village at Crew Castle, Woo Bewcastle Cross in the churchyard dates from the 7th century with Runic inscriptions. The head of the cross is missing.
