A village with a castle rebuilt in the 13th and 14th century, a Norman church with a mid-14th chapel to the Berkeleys.

To the north stands the lovely Elizabethan and later Chavenage Manor.

The small Norman Church of St Mary, all that remains from this period is the south doorway. The church was rebuilt in the 14th century. The three bay south arcade of the nave dates from c1200, it has a fine nave roof and a restored 15th century rood screen. There is a mid-14th chapel to the Berkeleys.  Grade II* listed
