Berechurch St Michael's Church, Audley Chapel, (Historic Churches Trust). Key available nearby. This is an early 16th century Tudor brick addition to St Michael's church, built as a burial chapel for the Audley family. It is notable for its superbly carved and coloured hammerbeam roof and fine series of monuments of various dates to Audleys and others; particularly charming is that to Robert Audley (d1648), reclining in his armour with his children kneeling beneath. The much-rebuilt church now leads a commercial life but the chapel remains consecrated.
