Situated on the edge of Hardy’s Egdon Heath’, set in beautiful countryside, it has one of the most visited churches in Dorset with the tombs of the Turbevilles whom Thomas Hardy translated into D'Urbevilles for his Tess.
The Church of St John the Baptist is a 12th century church with later additions including a Perpendicular stone and flint tower.
