Beech Hill

Beech Hill , England

URPoint Details

Beech Hill is in an historic country, in the extreme South-east corner of the District close to the Hampshire border.

The Roman road, known as the Devil's highway, is here with an equally ancient track, named Broadway, running off towards Reading.

There is also the moated site of Beaumys Castle which was owned by the De la Beche family in the 14th century.

Not far away is St. Leonard's Priory, founded in 1170 but now largely incorporated into a 16th-17th century house.

Near the crossroads is the parish church (a Butterfield design of 1867) and Beech Hill which dates from 1720.
