Parking charge. Disabled parking 10m from abbey entrance loose gravel surface. Access to buildings apply at shop (access via ramp) to use alternative entrance back through side gate behind shop, avoiding steps special tape tour for visitors in wheelchairs; access round exterior of buildings via impacted/loose gravel pathways avoiding steps. Eight steps into undercroft makes access difficult limited access to outer buildings. Battlefield is very rough and not accessible to physically disabled visitors may be viewed from Lower Terrace. One-mile country walk around battlefield recommended access to the gatehouse exhibition is difficult but it has objects to touch and computer with sounds of monastic life (must be operated by sighted companion) (note) crypt area has substantial drop visually impaired visitors must be accompanied. Interactive audio tour with hearing loop included in admission price. Toilets on level ground outside abbey ask for key in shop. Shop easy access via ramp. Exhibition on upper floor of gatehouse via steep steps difficult for ambulant disabled.
