Thatched cottages sit well with modern houses where the Georgian Barston Hall dominates the eastern approach. Some houses date from the 16 and 17th century, some are timber-framed in black and white with others of red brick.
The Church of St Swithun was rebuilt after a fire in 1721 and restored in 1899.
