URPoint Details
The village is famous as the birthplace of tapestry weaving in England, commenced by William Sheldon in the 16th century. Sheldon tapestry maps of English counties are highly sought after, there are some in the York and Oxford museums.
The little church contains several fine alabaster tombs and a carved 14th century font.
