A Celtic monastery was founded here in the 6th century
The cathedral dates from the 12th century and was dedicated to St Deniol the first Bishop of North Wales. Sir George Hillier Scott completed the present building in 1884.
The Town Hall dates from Tudor times and sits next to the cathedral. Between both these buildings are the lovely Bishops Gardens which includes a ‘Biblical Garden’.
