The town is mainly 19th century and where the River Feugh enters the River Dee.
The 18th century Bridge of Feugh spans a gorge in which salmon can be seen clearing the rapids.
East of the town is the lovely Crathes Castle and hanging in the hall is an ivory horn reputedly belonging to Robert Bruce.
