A busy holiday resort on Royal Deeside, surrounded by beautiful wooded hills, with the 3,786ft Lochnager rising majestically.
The town boasts many coats of arms above some of the shops and it’s interesting to see which monarch has frequented which shop!
Birkhall is an 18th century house bought by Edward VII when he was Prince of Wales.
Not far from the castle is the little church of Crathie (which the Royal Family attends) perched on a hill in a beautiful wooded setting.
Abergeldie Castle, 6 miles west was a favourite residence of Edward VIII when he was Prince of Wales.
