A 14th castle with additions in 1702 and was the 17th century home of Field Marshall Sir Alexander Leslie, made Lord General of the Scottish Covenanting Army and 1st Earl of Leven.
Garrisoned by Rob Roy MacGregor with 200 clansmen in January 1716.
