A quiet market town at the northern end of Lake Bala or Llyn Tegid over four miles long and a mile wide and is the largest natural lake in Wales. A good eleven mile road encircles the lake.
Bala is situated in the heart of some of the wildest hill country in Wales and offers some fantastic walks, fishing and sailing.
To the west lies the River Tryweryn which flows between the two peaks of Arennig Fach (2,800ft) and Arennig Fach (2,259ft).
To the south looms Aran Fawddy at 2,290ft is the highest Welsh mountain outside the Snowdonia range.
