Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell, Bt, OM GCMG, GCVO, KCB born 22 February 1857, Paddington also known as B.-P., B-P or Lord Baden-Powell, was an outstanding lieutenant-general in the British Army, writer, founder and Chief Scout of the Scout Movement. He founded the Boy Scouts in 1908 and the Girl Guides (with his sister Agnes) in 1910.
He spent the last decade of his life in Africa and died at Nyeri, Kenya on 8 January 1941 aged 83.
