Built around 1500 for the O'Flaherty's, the castle is set in picturesque surroundings close to the shores of Lough Corrib.
The Castle is a particularly well-preserved example of an Irish tower house.
The banqueting hall, watch tower, an unusual double bawn, bastions and dry harbour remain.
