Attadale House was built in 1755 by Donald Mathieson, and the gardens and woodland were started in 1890 by Baron Schroder and planted with rhododendrons, azaleas and specimen trees. Since the storms of the 1980s, more old paths have been revealed and sheltered from the north by the hill and steep cliff. Lush gardens have been planted with candelabra primulas, giant gunnera iris and bamboo. The restored sunken garden has vegetable and herb gardens.
