A village set on a bend of the River Severn, which is crossed by two bridges has a tiny thatched cottage, no bigger than an outsized dolls house nestles beside the elegant Classical lodge and gateway to Attingham Park.
The red-sandstone church of St Eata, a 7th century Celtic bishop, and is the only church in England dedicated to him and he is commemorated by a fine stained glass window.
The church was built with stones from the ruins of Roman Viroconium, the modern Wroxeter.
