URPoint Details
The village is situated on the edge of the lake District below rolling fells sweeping down to the River Lowther where you can see the ruins of Lowther Castle on the opposite bank set in wooded scenery.
The village has two greens separated by a central crossroad and it’s on the lower green with its ducks and geese that some of the whitewashed cottages date from the 17th century.
The Church of St Peter built in 1832 on the site of an earlier church. The parish records list vicars since the 12th century
