A long and large village with ash trees, timber framed houses, oak beamed cottages and a 17th century Guildhall.
The parish church is mainly 14th century and the tower stands 176ft high. The interior is light and whitewashed with many monuments of interest. There is an interesting 14th century drawing of Old St Paul’s Cathedral on an inside wall of the church.
Pargeting is decorative plasterwork, characteristic to East Anglia.
