URPoint Details
The church of St Nicholas is over 700 years old and is mostly built in the Perpendicular style.
There is a magnificent tower with an ogee headed doorway on the west front.
On the second buttress on the side near the chancel door is a scratch dial used to tell the time before the church had a clock.
On the north side is a memorial tablet to the Reverend Bartholmew Edwards (1789-1889) and his wife. He lived to be 100, all but nine days, and was rector for 76 years. This long ministry is recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
His photograph can be seen in the church.
