Angus

Angus looks both to the hills and the sea. The Angus Glens are one of Scotland's best-kept secrets. Glens such as Isla, Prosen, Clova or Esk run far into the mountains, with roads to take you truly away from it all. Visit in spring when the high tops are still snow covered. Meanwhile, across the other side of the valley called Strathmore with its woods and farms, the seacoast has its own charms. Discover red sandstone cliffs and fine beaches, as well as fishing ports such as Arbroath, home of the local delicacy, the Arbroath Smokie. (Try this fishy delight when you get there). Between the mountains and the sea the attractions such as Glamis Castle, associated with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother or Edzell castle with its unique garden.
