Four villages where St Mary is deserted and all bear the name of Ampney.
Ampney St Peter is supposedly the prettiest of them all, with its village green bordered by old cottages.
Ampney Crucis is a pleasing Cotswold village with a blend of old and new and stands on Ampney Brook, with a Norman to perpendicular church, a Norman chancel arch and a 15th century carved stone pulpit.
