There are three villages that make up The Ampneys
Ampney Crucis is a pleasing Cotswold village with a blend of old and new and stands on Ampney Brook. The Norman to Perpendicular Church the Holy Rood has a Norman chancel arch, a 15th century carved stone pulpit and 15th century west tower. The church has some fine monuments one in particular dated 1584 with effigies of a man, his wife and 12 kneeling children.
Ampney St Peter is supposedly the prettiest of them all, with its village green bordered by old cottages. Cleeve House is a delightful Grade II Listed building
