URPoint Details
The Romans were here and it was once an important copper mining port, at Point Lynas the town became a semaphore signalling station part of a chain linking Holyhead to Liverpool enabling mid-19th century shipowners to receive updated shipping arrivals.
Today the town is quiet and peaceful and a lovely tourist destination with a beach at Bull Bay although little sand has rocky sheltered coves.
The church is of the Decorated period and dedicated to St Elaeth.
