URPoint Details
The name derives from the Anglo-Saxon ‘Aelfflaede tun’ meaning Aelfflaed’s farm’.
Although the A134 divides this little village it has been a settlement since AD 991.
Two oak trees were planted in 1887 and the village pump was installed to commemorate the Jubilee of Queen Victoria.
Its claim to fame was the making of the film Twelve O\' Clock High which starred Gregory Peck.
