Alloa Tower, (NTS)

The tower was the ancestral home of the Earls of Mar for over four centuries. The present building dates from 1497 and was built by the 3rd Lord Erskine, and in the early 18th century, the 6th Earl remodelled the tower to tie in with the adjoining mansion house, which was destroyed by fire in 1800.
There is an impressive parapet walk round the tower's battlements offering spectacular views of the Forth. There is also a fine collection of family portraits.
