An ancient town in the Cuckmere Valley with old houses and not far away is an Anglo-Saxon burial ground where more than 100 graves were excavated and many of the objects now reside in the Museum in Lewes.
Outside the Star Inn is a wooden figure believed to be the figurehead from a 17th century Dutch ship wrecked in the Channel. It is one of the oldest in England dating from the 15th century.
