URPoint Details
The 14th century Church of St John is surrounded by wonderful monuments to past manor house owners, has a tall slender tower and a long low nave and chancel.
The oldest part of the church is the masonry in which there is a tiny 13th century lancet window.
The arcades of the nave have octagonal piers with moulded capitals typical of the 14th century.
The timber lectern is 16th century and the Pendley Chapel one of the finest features of the church is divided from the aisle and chancel by a medieval stone screen in which there is a monument to Sir Robert Whittington dated 1471 showing him with his wife on a tomb-chest.
