Acorn Bank Gardens, (NT), N of Temple Sowerby, 6m E of Penrith on A66. Open April to end October, daily 10am-5.30pm (last admission 5pm). Admission charge; dogs on leads only.
Disabled parking at entrance to garden via level approach; level access for wheelchairs to toilets. Shop accessible.
A 2½-acre garden protected by fine oaks under which grow a vast display of daffodils. Inside the walls there are two orchards containing a variety of fruit trees. Surrounding the orchards are mixed borders with shrubs, herbaceous plants and roses, while the impressive herb garden has the largest collection of culinary and medicinal plants in the north. A circular woodland walk runs beside the Crowdundle Beck.
