AC/DC singer Bon Scott - Kirriemuir

Kirriemuir , Scotland

URPoint Details

The sculpture by John McKenna commemorates famed AC/DC singer Ronald 'Bon' Scott's hometown. Scott found fame and fortune - and some bad rock star habits that eventually killed him in 1983, as lead singer of Australian rock group AC/DC.

Scott sang such time-honoured classics as Jailbreak, Highway to Hell and It\'s A Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock-n-Roll), which are still popular rock anthems today. His nickname \'Bon\' comes from the expression among his Australian friends that he came from \'Bonnie Scotland\'.

Bon Scott sadly died from choking on his own vomit, while sleeping off a drinking session in a friend's Renault 5 car, parked outside 67 Overhill Road, East Dulwich, London, on February 19, 1980. He was just 33 years old.
